Some unidentified hoodlums have set ablaze Yoruba rights activist, Sunday Igboho’s house at SOKA area of Ibadan.
According to reports, the sad incident happened in the early hours of today, January 26.
Note that Igboho has been in the news for calling for the eviction of Fulani herdsmen in Yorubaland.
He argued that the herdsmen have carried out so many nefarious activities in Yorubaland and need to leave if they fail to desist.
Confirming the sad news, Oyo state police command revealed Sunday Igboho’s house was burnt by hoodlums.
A statement released by the spokesperson of the state police command, says hoodlums who rode in a hummer bus and a Micra stormed the apartment, fired sporadic gunshots before setting the house ablaze.
The statement adds that the incident is now being investigated.
“At about 0620 hrs of today 26/01/2021, report was received at Santo Police Station that some unidentified hoodlums came to Sunday Igboho’s house at SOKA area of Ibadan in a Hummer bus and Micra firing sporadically, and set the house ablaze.
The mini sitting room got burnt in the process while amount of other properties is yet to be estimated. Immediately the DPO Sanyo got wind of the incident, he contacted Fire service while he also went to the scene for on the spot assessement. The fire was eventually put out.
Investigation has commenced into the incident while the Police is on the trail of the hoodlums.”
