Born on 23 November 1983 Chinedu Okoli, professionally known as Flavour N’abania or simply Flavour, is a Nigerian singer, songwriter, multi-instrumentalist and performer.
Flavour was born in Enugu State, Nigeria to Okoli Family. The singer hails from Umunze in Orumba South LGA, Anambra State.
He is the third child of a family of 12
Early Music Career
Flavour began his music career at the age of 13 when he started playing the drums for his church choir in Enugu.
Seeing that he is talented, the resident pastor at his church introduced Flavour to a friend, Chris I Ordor, the CEO of SoundCity Communications
Mr. Ordor had just started a musical company aimed at training young musicians on the basics of music and nurturing them all the way to a professional level
In 1996, Flavour was invited to join the company on an educational scholarship to study music.
Flavour went to visit them and realized he needed to be a part of the band to realize his dreams. He informed his parents about it, but they didn’t agree because they wanted him to go to school.
However, the musician who wasn’t ready to take no for an answer, left his parents’ house and moved in with the band members.
After three years of staying with the band, Flavour started playing the drums professionally.
In 1999, Flavour moved on from playing the drums and started playing the keyboard. He also used to provide backing vocals for other musicians at SoundCity.
At the age of 19, the singer emerged as a drummer and pianist for a local Enugu band.
After learning to play drums professionally, he received an offer to perform at City Centre, Enugu. He was inspired by a massive crowd to gain new grounds and reach great heights.
Flavour eventually left the band, after working with them for eleven years.
After he left Soundcity Communications, the musician started playing with different bands on his own. Although it was a difficult journey, nevertheless, he kept on learning on the street.
With time, he started going to the studio to learn studio recording and it was during this period he met Darkman and Nigga Raw. He then started doing choruses for Nigga Raw.
Seeing that he could do choruses that would come out so well for someone else, Flavour started recording and creating songs from scratch.
In 2005, Flavour released his debut album, “N’abania” through Obaino Music. The album’s success was limited to Eastern Nigeria, particularly Enugu State. The singer collaborated with Mr Raw on the album’s lead single titled “N’abania”.
In 2010, he released another album, ‘Uplifted’. The album had hit singles: Nwa Baby, Oyi and Adanma. The album was successful and made waves on various media platforms.
In October 2012, the singer released his third album, “Blessed” under 2nite Entertainment label. By then, Flavour has grown to be a force in the music industry locally and internationally.
He released his fourth album, “Thankful” alongside a hit single “Power to Win”. The hit song was one of the soundtracks used for American Idol Season 14.
The singer has since been releasing songs and albums.
Flavour has two baby mamas; ex-beauty queen, Sandra Okagbue and actress/ex-beauty queen, Anna Ebiere Banner. Flavour had his daughter, Gabrielle with Sandra and his second daughter, Sophia with Anna.
There are rumours that he is married to Sandra and that she also had another child for him. However, he is yet to confirm it.
