A 26-year-old woman identified as Chloe Haines, who seems to be suffering from depression has been arrested after she tried to open a passenger plane door while the plane was in motion.
According to reports, the incident took place on a Jet2 flight with 206 people aboard, heading to Dalaman in Turkey on 22 June 2019.
It was gathered that the woman who is native of High Wycombe tried to open the plane door. She also scratched a crew member as she lunged at the door shouting “I’m going to kill you all”.
Two RAF fighter jets rushed to escort the plane back to Stansted Airport, causing a sonic boom across Essex.
Haines was arrested and taken to Chelmsford Crown Court where she pleaded guilty to endangering the safety of a passenger plane and assault by beating.
Haines’ barrister Oliver Saxby QC described her as “a troubled young person with a number of serious issues”.
17 days before the incident, she was given a community order for similar offenses involving alcohol and a loss of control.
The woman was later sentenced.
