A three-storeyed building collapsed in the Bode area of Ibadan, capital of Oyo state, on Friday leaving many trapped.
According to TheCable, a source said the incident happened around 5:50pm.
Many people are suspected to be trapped in the Ibadan collapsed structure.
The Oyo State Police spokesman, Olugbenga Fadeyi confirmed to NAN that rescue efforts were on-going at the building site.
He said: “What is important now is to remove the debris and rescue those trapped and after that, the number of casualties will be ascertained.
“The Commissioner of Police, Shina Olukolu, is here as well as the Fire Service carrying out rescue operations.
“The cause of the collapse is, however, yet to be ascertained.”
This is coming barely 48 hours after a three-storeyed building in Itafaji area of Lagos Island collapsed, leaving many dead and injured.
