The Imo State governor, Rochas Okorocha was absent during the issuance of Certificate of Return to Senators-elect by the Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, on Thursday.
The electoral body issued the Certificate of Return today at the International Conference Centre, ICC, in Abuja.
INEC had reportedly removed Okorocha’s name from the list of senators-elect who will be presented with certificates of report today, insisting that the governor was declared winner “under duress”.
Reacting, Okorocha had said that the commission has no right to seize the certificate, lamenting that the Returning Officer could not have declared him winner under duress when there were security and party agents present that day.
Okorocha had won one of the senatorial seats in Imo West.
