The National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Mr. Adams Oshiomhole and president Muhammadu Buhari were yesterday, booed and stoned at the party’s campaign rally at Ogun state.
The problem started when Oshiomhole mentioned the name of the party’s governorship candidate in the state, Mr. Dapo Abiodun while addressing the crowd.
The crowd, upon hearing Abiodun’s name, started booing him with some throwing objects at him, prompting security operatives to surround him.
The incumbent Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, who is supporting Adekunle Akinlade of the APM to succeed him, then appealed to the crowd to respect the presence of President Buhari.
When Buhari later came up to address the rally, he told the party’s supporters to vote whoever they like.
He said, “I appeal to you to practice your civil rights to come out next Saturday and on the 2nd of March and choose whoever you like across the parties. This is your right and I have no problem about it.”
However, trouble started again when he raised Abiodun’s hand moments later.
The Ogun chapter of the APC has been at each other’s throats for months over its choice of governorship candidate.
Amosun chose Akinlade alleging that the party manipulated the process to hand its ticket to Dapo Abiodun.
