The President of the Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII), the umbrella body of all indigenes of Ibadan, Chief Yemi Soladoye has said that the council will not endorse any of the governorship candidates for the March 2nd election.
Those running the governorship race include; Barrister Sharafadeen Alli of Zenith Labour Party, Mr. Adebayo Adelabu of APC, Chief Christopher Adebayo Alao-Akala of ADP, Mr. Seyi Makinde of PDP, Senator Olufemi Lanlehin, Engineer Hakeem Oyedele and 33 others.
Speaking at a program, Soladoye said: “Meet the Ibadan Electorate” on Wednesday, where a former Governor and gubernatorial candidate of the Action Democratic Party (ADP) Alao Akala, said the concept behind invitation to all candidates was basically to know their level of preparedness for the task ahead in developing Ibadan and the state in general.”
“We believe that there is direct correlation between the five elements of education, infrastructure, business, revolution, financial empowerment and job creation. To what extent does our next Governor understand this correlation?
“We will like to know what our governor will like to be remembered for after his tenure. The next Governor of Oyo state must have specific Ibadan agenda. Ibadan has 54% of the Oyo state electorate and some 3,000 polling booths.”
“How do our politicians see the benefits and challenges embedded in the completion of the Ibadan circular road, the Lagos-Ibadan standard gauge rail system, the Lagos-Ibadan expressway, the dry dock project and the Ibadan Kaduna rail system?.”
