The senator representing Akwa Ibom north-west senatorial district, Godswill Akpabio, has said that Senate President Bukola Saraki and Yakubu Dogora, speaker of the House of Representatives, should resign or they will be “booted out of office.”
According to Akpabio, the inability of Saraki and Dogara to control the lawmakers during president Buhari’s budget presentation shows they were undeserving of their positions.
The senator said this when he spoke to reporters after President Muhammadu Buhari presented the 2019 budget.
Akpabio said: “Yes, they couldn’t talk today because they are minority leaders. They are not even supposed to talk in the first place.
“They should therefore do the needful and resign honourably or face being booted out of office.”
Buhari presented a proposed N8.83trn fiscal 2019 budget to a joint session of the National Assembly on Wednesday.
During the presentation, some lawmakers of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and their Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) counterparts exchanged blows while some booed the president, accusing him of making false claims.
